Day 1 of the FODMAP lifestyle

After a week of hell I have decided to put a positive spin on things and use my health issues as a way of learning more about my body and digestion through using the FODMAP lifestyle.

My best friend bought me a book last Christmas of FODMAP and the positive effects on your body. Although I found it useful, I never to be honest took it seriously. Until this week. I have been through the wars with pain, more pain, more drugs and trips to hospital.

After a thorough examination,  they have come to a decision that it's 80% confirmed to be Chron's disease, yet to have full tests but awaiting dates.

I was hoping for something that I could take a course of tablets and it would just get better, little did I know it could be a chronic disease. After having a friend which has suffered severely from this condition, I knew a little about what to expect.

I am not treating it as ' I have Chrons' but more like 'whatever this is, I need to make some lifestyle changes to make sure I can live a normal life without flare ups'.

I started by opening that book, and writing down a positivity list of all I can still eat. I was massive shocked by the vast amount of fruit and veg with is high in FODMAP. The assumption is that flare ups are caused by junk food, this isn't the case.

After getting my head around low lactose, gluten free, and low FODMAP I went shopping.

I am determined to do what I can to never feel that pain again and with hope help me shift the lbs I've gained.

Today was a taster day. And each day I'll be writing a short blog to keep me focused noting down my food diary so I can see any patterns in when I flare up. This is more a personal account , but I am happy if I helps you too.
